Scrabo congregation takes its name from the hill which can be seen behind it in the photograph. It began as a Church Extension cause in 1972 in the West Winds estate, which was then being developed on the Comber Road, Newtownards. Nearly all the members live or once lived in the parish area, which is comprised of the West Winds, Lansdowne and Scrabo districts of Newtownards. As the only church in the area it provides a spiritual focus for the community, and has strong links with the primary school and residential home.
